What happens during with compression of files
When you upload a file it get compressed. It is being compressed so it takes up less space on the computer while functioning the same. If this didn't exist, it would require alot of storage for a little piece of information. This is the reason why you can download many things for instance, while only giving up a few bits. In this example I used games, but it happens with all sorts of stuff like for example text, images etc, so it is more important than you might think.

- Made up of pixels, or in other words dots
- It is dependent on resolution
- Common formats include JPEG, PNG'S and GIFS
- Works well for photographs and detailed pictures
- Composed of shapes
- Unlike Bitmap images is independent on resolution
- Common formats include SVG, AI and EPS
- Ideal for logo's, icons etc
